CGIA Institute signs MoU with BICM in Bangladesh

The CGIA Institute, a globally recognized body of finance and investment professionals which provides the Chartered Global Investment Analysts (CGIA) designation and headquartered in the USA, on Monday, March 9, 2020 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM).

Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) was established as a institution for imparting practical capital market education and training on July 24, 2008. The Institute is gradually emerging as a center of excellence for professional development of capital market intermediaries and full spectrum of market professionals through disseminating recent and updated theoretical and practical knowledge.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. M. Khairul Hossain, and Prof. MD. Helal Uddin, FCGIA, Commissioner of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission as well as dignitaries and prominent individuals within the capital market operations of Bangladesh.

This MoU seeks to strengthen the commitment of both institutions in raising highly qualified and ethical finance and investment professionals for Bangladesh, where BICM becomes the Accredited Training Partner (ATP) for the CGIA program  in Bangladesh. This will allow CGIA candidates in Bangladesh to receive world class tuition as they prepare towards their CGIA exams.

Signing on behalf of the CGIA Institute, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, FCGIA, Chairman of the Global Council of CGIA Institute indicated “CGIA Institute is only in Bangladesh to help bridge the skill gap within the finance and investment management industry. At CGIA, we focus on raising ethical professionals who will protect and grow the industry”.

According to Dr. Nitai Chandra Debnath, FCMA, Executive President, in-charge at BICM, “We are excited about the commitment of stakeholders to help raise skilled professionals. We believe that the future will be bright for Bangladesh Finance and Capital market”

This MoU was signed during the 1st Bangladesh Finance & Investment Summit 2020 hosted by the CGIA Institute in partnership with BICM and other stakeholders in Bangladesh’s capital market. The Summit attracted over 200 participants from the capital market.
